Michael J. Glaser
Chief of Police Michael J. Glaser began
his career with the Kenner Police Department as a Police Officer
in 1990. After graduating from the Louisiana State University
Police Academy in 1991, he was assigned to the Patrol Division.
Chief Glaser remained in the Patrol Division until he was
assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division in 1995.
1999, Chief Glaser was named the Departmentís Accreditation
Program Manager. As Accreditation Program Manager, he
successfully led the Department through the process that
resulted in the Department being accredited through the
Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies
(C.A.L.E.A.) in 2001.
Glaser was promoted to Sergeant in 2005 and assumed the duties
as the Legal Affairs/Professional Standards Officer. As Legal
Affairs/Professional Standards Officer, he was the Departmentís
chief policy and procedure writer, emergency preparedness
coordinator, and an Internal Affairs Division supervisor.
2013, he was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police and assumed the
duties of Commander of Operations and Chairman of the
Departmentís Administrative Review Board.
Glaser is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans and The
Center for American and International Lawís School of Police
Supervision. He is a certified law enforcement instructor,
former S.W.A.T. Team member, and Field Training Officer. He was
selected as the Kenner Police Departmentís ďTop CopĒ in 1997 by
the American Society for Industrial Security.
April of 2014 Chief Glaser was elected Chief of Police and
assumed command of the Kenner Police Department on July 1, 2014.
