National Night Out Against Crime Kick-Off Party, October 9 Kick-off precedes National Night Out Against Crime, October 11

KENNER— Everyone is invited to attend the twelfth Annual National Night Out Against Crime Kick-Off Party taking place this Sunday, October 9, from 3 – 7 p.m. at Laketown in Kenner.

As always, there will be exciting entertainment including children’s activities, a red beans and rice cook-off, various displays and demonstrations by law enforcement and fire department professionals, live music by Karma and great food - ALL FREE!  Representatives in every area of law enforcement will be there to talk with you.  This is an excellent opportunity for people considering a career in law enforcement to have their questions answered by experts in each field and to find out what their jobs are all about.  It’s also a great time for citizens and officials to interact and to discuss important issues in our community.

The Kick-Off Party is a prelude to the 28th Annual National Night Out Against Crime, which Kenner will observe along with other local law enforcement agencies on the following Tuesday, October 11.  Citizens can help us celebrate this event in a variety of ways, such as having a block party, a cookout, flashlight walks, or by sitting on their front porch with their lights on – a symbol that has become a tradition over the years.  Those organizing parties or gatherings in Kenner on October 11 are encouraged to call the Kenner Police Department Community Relations Division to have officers visit their neighborhoods.  Join your local law enforcement agencies in promoting crime prevention awareness and neighborhood unity in the fight against crime!

More Information:  Contact the KPD Community Relations Division by phone at (504) 712- 2294 or (504) 712-2395 or by email at nguggenheim@kennerpd.com or jvirgil@kennerpd.com to learn more about the kick-off party, to register a party for National Night Out Against Crime or to start a Neighborhood Watch group.
