St. Rose / Kenner women arrested for supermarket robbery 

 

Kenner - On Saturday, December 10, 2011, Tamika Lea, 26, who provided a home address of 120 W. Club Drive, St. Rose, was arrested for the crime of armed robbery.  At 1055 a.m., (December 10, 2011). Lea entered the Union Supermarket, located at 2105 West Esplanade Avenue, Kenner, and browsed around in the store.  Upon Lea approaching the cashier, she placed a black bandanna on her face, produced a handgun and demanded money from the cash register.  After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, Lea fled the business. 

Officers searching the area for Lea, the suspect, located a waiting 2006 Nissan Altima, driven by Shandrya Humbles, 20, of 943 27th Street, in Kenner, in the rear alley of the Burlington Coat Factory, located at 3324 Williams Boulevard, Kenner.  While interviewing Humbles it was learned that her vehicle had been involved in a hit and run accident.  Upon being questioned about the robbery, she admitted to being the getaway driver for Lea.  Lea was subsequently located in the 2100 block of 33rd Street, where she was identified as the gunwoman in the armed robbery and taken into custody. 

Both Lea and Humbles was interviewed by Detective Joseph McRae.  Lea admitted that she entered the Union Supermarket, produced a gun, and robbed the cashier of the money inside the cash register.  Humbles admitted to meeting with Lea, planning and driving Lea to the robbery location, and was waiting in the area to pick Lea up after she committed the robbery.   

Tamika Lea was charged with the crime of armed robbery.  Shandrya Humbles was arrested and charged with the crime of principal to armed robbery. 

At the time of this press release, Humbles and Lea remains in the custody of the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna.  Humbles bond was set at $100,000.  Lea’s bond was set at $76,340.00

Officers Brad Boyd and Paul Carmouche are in charge of the investigation.
