CHIEF STEPHEN CARAWAY WARNS OF PHONE SCAM

Kenner - Chief Caraway wants Kenner citizens to be aware of a recent phone scam the Kenner Police Department has been made aware of.

Kenner citizens that have been contacted advise they all received a pre-recorded message advising them to contact the Kenner Police Department in reference to a family member being arrested by the Kenner Police Department or that a family member has been involved in a serious accident. The calls have been received by a number of citizens living throughout the city. The call advises to call a number starting with *721.

Chief Caraway wants Kenner citizens to know that the Kenner Police does not utilize pre-recorded messages to notify citizens of arrested or injured family members.

In addition, Chief Caraway warns that dialing any number starting with *721 can possible redirect or call forward their phone to the number following *721.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning this incident, to call the Kenner Police Department at (504) 712-2222, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
