Kenner Police investigate shooting

Kenner - On Friday, December 27, 2013, at 9:30 p.m., the Kenner Police Department responded to a shooting that occurred outside the Malcolm Kenner Apartment Complex, located in the 800 block of 3rd Street, in Kenner.  There Kenner officers discovered a 59 year old male victim had been shot in the clavicle area outside the location.

The victim advised that an unknown black male, estimated to be about 25-30 years of age, 5’11” to 6’0” in height, 160-180 pounds, wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt, and blue jeans approached him while brandishing a firearm demanding the victim’s property.  The victim resisted, at which time he became involved in a physical altercation with the perpetrator and was struck in the head with the gun, then shot.  The perpetrator then fled in an unknown vehicle, westbound on 3rd Street towards St. Charles Parish.  No property was taken from the victim.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning this incident to call the Kenner Police Department at (504) 712-2222 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.

Officer Aaron Couturie is in charge of the investigation.
