New Orleans man arrested after scamming Jefferson Parish
Juvenile Court Candidate
- A New Orleans man had been arrested and charged with theft
valued at $5,653.00 after he scammed Connie Montgomery, a Jefferson
Parish Juvenile Court candidate.
Joseph West, aka Joseph Berry, 53, of 2905 Coliseum Street, New
Orleans, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast
Regional Task Force at the New Orleans address on Friday, December 6,
2013, after his attorney failed to surrender him in reference to the
outstanding arrest warrant which had been obtained for his arrest on

After an investigation, it was revealed that Montgomery had been
scammed out of $5,653.00, resulting in an arrest warrant being issued
for Joseph West / Joseph Berry’s arrest.
was booked into Orleans Parish Prison on Friday as a fugitive.
He was later transferred to the Kenner Police Department where he
was booked on the outstanding arrest warrant.
West was released from custody on Monday, December 9, 2013, from
the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, after posting a $7,500.00
