Elderly sitter arrested for theft of assets from the elderly

 Kenner - On Tuesday, November 5, 2013, the Kenner Police Department arrested Janice Nicholson, 49, of 3914 Delachaise Street, in New Orleans.  Nicholson was arrested and charged with the crimes of unauthorized use of an access device, theft of assets from the elderly, unauthorized use of a moveable, and misdemeanor theft.    

 The investigation began in September when the 89 year old victim discovered that his checking account had been compromised and used to pay for services from Entergy in the amount of $1,074.00, between the months of March 2013 through August 2013. 

 Upon obtaining records from Entergy it was learned that services were paid for a residence in New Orleans that belonged to the daughter of Janice Nicholson who was responsible for sitting with the 89 year old victim.  Nicholson was taken into custody Tuesday (November 5, 2013) after the elderly victim contacted police to report that Nicholson had taken $30.00 from his wallet and his vehicle. 

 As police were investigating the second complaint, Nicholson returned to the residence in the victimís vehicle at which time she was arrested.  Nicholson was interviewed and admitted that the victimís checking account information which was used to pay the Entergy bill.   Nicholson claimed to be self-employed sitter. 

 Detective Jeff Adams and Officer Casey Smith is in charge of the investigation.
