KPD awarded overtime traffic enforcement grant from LA Highway Saftey Commission

KENNER — The Kenner Police Department has been awarded an overtime traffic enforcement grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.  The grant, totaling $57,233.00, emphasizes enforcement against alcohol/impaired driving (DWI), speeding, and occupant protection (seatbelt/child restraint) violations by motorists in the City of Kenner.  The funding will provide for overtime expenditures of Police Officers conducting patrols for such enforcement of these particular violations.

 

Besides enforcement patrols, the funding will also be utilized for Police Officers working overtime while conducting periodic DWI or occupant protection checkpoints throughout the grant period.  Officers will also work overtime for this program during Special Wave Enforcement campaign periods that are scheduled as follows:

 

            November 24-December 1, 2013         “Click It or Ticket”/Thanksgiving

            December 13, 2013-January 1, 2014   Christmas/New Year’s “Drive Sober or Get                                                                          Pulled Over”

            February 21-March 4, 2014                 Mardi Gras “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”

            April 1-30, 2014 (weekends)               Underage Drinking Enforcement

            May 1-7, 2014                                     “Buckle Up in Your Truck”

            May 19-June 1, 2014                           “Click It or Ticket” National Mobilization

            July 2-6, 2014                                      Independence Day “Drive Sober or Get                                                                         Pulled Over”

            August 15-September 1, 2014              “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” National                                                                                           Mobilization

 

The grant period for this program commenced on October 1, 2013 and continues through September 30, 2014.
