Kenner Police arrested a man accused of raping a 10-year-old girl. The abuse started when the girl was 5, according to Sgt. Brian McGregor, spokesman for the department.

The girl told authorities Damien Lecesne, 36, of Kenner, inappropriately touched her sexually on four occasions between 2008 and 2013, an arrest report said. The girl suffered "bleeding and burning" from those encounters, McGregor said.

But authorities and her relatives didn't learn of the abuse until the girl's father recently took her to Children's Hospital in New Orleans. While there, the girl told doctors about Lecesne, and they called in police, McGregor said.

Detectives learned more about the abuse with the help of representatives from the Jefferson Children's Advocacy Center, a nonprofit group with investigators trained to conduct interviews with children about abuse, reports say. They spoke with the girl in August, and she gave a "clear and detailed" history of the assaults, an arrest report said.

Kenner Police took Lecesne into custody Thursday (Sept. 5) night at his home, 2715 Acron St., Kenner. He denied abusing the girl, McGregor said.

Lecesne was booked the next day at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna with three counts of aggravated rape of a victim under 13 and three counts of sexual battery. He was also booked on four outstanding municipal traffic attachments. Lecesne was still being held at the jail Monday (Sept. 9) at a $996,500 bond.
