Mississippi fugitive arrested for multiple burglaries in Kenner

 Kenner - A fugitive who fled the State of Mississippi after learning he was wanted has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of burglary in Kenner. 

 On Friday, August 1, 2014, the Kenner Police Department learned that Torez Lorenzo White, 18, who was residing at 4329 Idaho Avenue, apartment C, Kenner, had fled Mississippi and was staying in Kenner after he learned he was wanted in reference to a petit larceny charge from Ridgeland, Mississippi.   Further Intel received was that White was bragging to committing numerous crimes within Kenner. 

 On Friday, after receiving the extraditable warrant; members of the Kenner Police Special Response Team, Criminal and Narcotics Investigation Division, responded to 4329 Idaho Avenue, apartment C, Kenner, in an attempt to apprehend Torez White.  Upon officers / detectives knocking on the front door of the apartment, White attempted to flee out the rear door of the apartment but retreated back inside and refused to come out.  Realizing officers / detectives were not leaving, White surrendered without any further incident. 

 White was linked through physical evidence and by property recovered to numerous residential and business burglaries which had been occurring within the City of Kenner since July 21, 2014.  In addition to the Mississippi warrant, White was also charged with attempt simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling (3-counts), simple burglary (2-counts), simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling (1-count), and illegal possession of stolen things valued at $1,300.00. 

 White was charged for the attempted or committed burglaries for the following dates and locations:

 Attempt simple burglary (residence /dwelling)   7/21/2014           4300 block of Illinois Avenue, Kenner

 Attempt simple burglary (residence /dwelling)   7/25/2014           3500 block of California Avenue, Kenner

 Attempt simple burglary (residence / apartment) 7/25/2014       4500 block of Williams Boulevard, Kenner

 Simple burglary    (business)                              7/30/2014      4100 block of Williams Boulevard, Kenner

 Illegal possession of stolen things

 In each of the burglaries or attempted burglaries, White would force entry by breaking a business, or kicking in door to both businesses and residences.  Taken during the burglaries, were jewelry, money, gaming systems, and small computers such as Mac computers, and IPADS.  White’s vehicle was located hidden at the Sugar Mill apartment complex, located at 4520 Williams Boulevard, Kenner, where some of the stolen property was recovered.   

 At the time of this press release, White remains in custody, no bond has been set.  Additional charges are expected.
