Metairie man severely injured after he was
struck by a vehicle
- A Metairie man was severely injured this morning after he was
struck by a vehicle in the 2700 block of Bainbridge Street, in Kenner.
approximately 08:31 a.m., Kenner Police responded to a vehicle crash
involving a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 55 year old male
driver from Kenner was driving a 1988 Ford Econoline Van southbound on
Bainbridge Street when he failed to maintain attention to the roadway.
The van drifted to the right shoulder and partially left the
roadway where it struck a 36 year old Metairie resident who was walking
south along the curb. The
pedestrian suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash, which
included several broken ribs, a skin avulsion to the right arm,
fractures to his face, and a brain hemorrhage.
The pedestrian was transported to University Hospital where he is
listed in critical condition.
Ford Van was not insured at the time of this crash, in addition had
several equipment violations which included an expired license plate, a
switched license place registration sticker, and a counterfeit motor
vehicle inspection sticker.
The driver of the van had to be transported to Ochsner Kenner for
underlying medical reasons.
charges are pending in reference to this crash.
