Metairie man severely injured after he was struck by a vehicle

Kenner - A Metairie man was severely injured this morning after he was struck by a vehicle in the 2700 block of Bainbridge Street, in Kenner.

At approximately 08:31 a.m., Kenner Police responded to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.  A preliminary investigation revealed that a 55 year old male driver from Kenner was driving a 1988 Ford Econoline Van southbound on Bainbridge Street when he failed to maintain attention to the roadway.  The van drifted to the right shoulder and partially left the roadway where it struck a 36 year old Metairie resident who was walking south along the curb.  The pedestrian suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash, which included several broken ribs, a skin avulsion to the right arm, fractures to his face, and a brain hemorrhage.  The pedestrian was transported to University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
