Victim in fatal hit and run on I-10 is identified

 Kenner - The victim in the fatal hit and run that occurred on the I-10 in Kenner; Monday night has been identified as Reyes Joel Gomez-Castro, age 32.   According to a family member; Gomez-Castro was last seen leaving his apartment located in the 2900 block of Kansas Avenue, Kenner, Monday, about 7:30 p.m.   Family advised Gomez-Castro said he was walking to a store (unknown location).  Other than walking to a store, family advised they do not know why Gomez-Castro would be on or crossing the I-10.   Gomez-Castro is originally from Guatemala and was residing with his brother in Kenner.     

 The pedestrian fatality was originally reported Monday, December 8, 2014, at 8:23 p.m. in which the Kenner Police Department received numerous 9-1-1 telephone calls reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle, in the 1800 block of the I-10 eastbound, in Kenner.  Upon officers arrival on scene they discovered the body of a Reyes Joel Gomez-Castro on the eastbound shoulder.  His death was pronounced on scene. 

 Kenner Police are possibly looking for a white 18 wheeler truck that was traveling eastbound on I-10 without the trailer at the time of this incident.    This hit and run fatality death remains open and under investigation.
