Kenner Police Department investigating morning traffic fatality

Kenner - The Kenner Police Department is presently investigating a traffic fatality that occurred in the 700 block of Clay Street, in Kenner.  At approximately 4:40 a.m., James Isom, 40 of Metairie, was observed operating a 2004 Saturn at a high rate of speed in the 1300 block of Clay Street.  As Isomís vehicle reached the intersection of Clay Street & Airline Drive, Isom disregarded the red light at the location at which time his vehicle became airborne and begin to flip over and crashed through a utility pole.   As the result of the crash, Isomís death was pronounced on scene.  A passenger inside the vehicle was injured and transported to a local hospital where the passenger remains in stable condition.  Driver error, speed, and Isom not wearing a seat belt are factors in this traffic fatality.

Due to the vehicle crashing through the utility pole electricity was interrupted for a short time.  Entergy has restored power to the area.

Chief Steve Caraway asks that if anyone witnessed this crash to call Kenner Police Traffic Officer / Investigator Gerald Miller at (504) 712-2424.
