Kenner man arrested distributing marijuana

Kenner - A Kenner man has been arrested and charged with six (6) counts of distribution of marijuana, violating the controlled dangerous substance law (5-counts), possession of Hydrocodone, and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

Joseph Staehle, 18, who resides at 3545 Tulane Drive, in Kenner was arrested by the Kenner Police Narcotics Investigative Division, on Saturday, March 29, 2014.   Staehle was the target of an undercover operation, in which the Kenner Police Department received numerous complaints from citizens, Crimestoppers, and through the Kenner Police Narcotics Tip Hotline (466-3073), which provided tips that Staehle was distributing narcotics.

As a result of the investigation, undercover detectives made six (6) separate purchases of marijuana from Staehle, in addition, to four (4) tablets of Hydrocodone.  Staehle distributed the illegal narcotics within a designated drug free zone, the Woodlake Playground, located at 131 West Esplanade Avenue, in Kenner.

The stolen firearm charge was the result of a January 30, 2014 investigation in which officers with the Kenner Police Department Special Response Team responded to the Staehle residence to arrest individuals who were known to have outstanding warrants for their arrest.  As the result of the response, SRT located a stolen .45 caliber handgun, which was later linked to Joseph Staehle through forensic evidence.    The gun had been reported stolen in Madison County, Alabama.

At the time of this press release, Staehle remains in custody; his bond was set at $207,500.00.

Chief Steve Caraway encourages anyone with information concerning Joseph Staehle, or anyone possessing or distributing illegal narcotics / synthetic drugs to call the Kenner Police Department at (504) 712-2222, Kenner Police Drug Hotline (504) 466-3073, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
