 Kenner man charged in morning robbery

 Kenner - At approximately 1123 hours, Wednesday, March 05, 2014, Kenner Police responded to a robbery that occurred on California Avenue, in Kenner.  There the 56 year old female victim advised she was walking to her home when she was approached by a male, wearing a gray hoodie and white tee shirt, who attempted to grab her purse from her.  The male subject struggled with the female victim until he was able to gain control and snatch $40.00 from her.  The male subject then fled on foot, east on 34th Street, toward Williams Boulevard.

 A short time after receiving this robbery complaint, Kenner Police Officers conducting a canvass of the area and stopped a male subject matching the suspect description, at the Shell Station, located at 3501 Williams Boulevard, in Kenner.  It was there, the victim positively identified the suspect detained, identified as 19 year old, Dwione Samuel of 3204 California Avenue, in Kenner, as the person who had committed the robbery.  The money taken from the victim was found in Samuel’s possession and returned to the victim.  Samuel’s was charged with the crime of simple robbery. 

 At the time of this press release, Dwione Samuel remains in custody, no bond has been set.
