Two arrested for identity theft (95-counts)
On Wednesday, April 8, 2015, the Kenner Police investigated an identity theft complaint filed by 32 year old (female) victim who reported that unknown subject obtained her bank credit card number and used it to order vehicle parts at the Advanced Auto Parts, located 3150 Loyola Drive, in Kenner. Officers learned that when the perpetrators arrived at the store, they used or attempted to use multiple access cards (credit, debit, and gift cards) before the purchase was successfully completed.
A search warrant executed at 209 Kilgore Drive, resulted in the seizure of multiple credit cards, multiple credit card blanks, a credit card embosser for making counterfeit credit cards, two computers, and a credit card scanner / encoder. Seized were 119 blank credit cards, 92 credit cards which had been embossed but not yet encoded, and 15 cards that had been encoded but were not yet embossed, and 30 gift cards.
As a result of the seizure pursuant to the search warrant the following charges were filed as of Friday, April 10th, against Carlos Suarez and the residence occupant Isael Urgelles-Diaz, 30, who provided a home address in Houston Texas. Each was charged with the following offenses:
use of an access card, anti-skimming act, access device fraud, unlawful
possess of fraudulent documents, computer fraud, bank fraud (2-counts)
and identity theft (95-counts).
Both remain in custody there bonds were set at $75,000.00.
Additional charges are expected, as the investigation continues.
