Two arrested for identity theft (95-counts)

 Kenner - Two people were arrested and charged with multiple counts of identity theft, concerning the use of fraudulent credit cards. 

  On Wednesday, April 8, 2015, the Kenner Police investigated an identity theft complaint filed by 32 year old (female) victim who reported that unknown subject obtained her bank credit card number and used it to order vehicle parts at the Advanced Auto Parts, located 3150 Loyola Drive, in Kenner.  Officers learned that when the perpetrators arrived at the store, they used or attempted to use multiple access cards (credit, debit, and gift cards) before the purchase was successfully completed. 

 

  On Thursday, April 9, 2015, Carlos Suarez, 48, who provided a home address in Miami Florida returned to the business to pick up parts which was ordered the previous night utilizing the victimís account information.  Upon attempting to interview him concerning the fraudulent use of the access card he immediately placed his hands in front of him telling officers to arrest him and take him to jail.  Once Suarez was detained it was learned that Suarez arrived at the store driving a vehicle registered to 209 Kilgore Drive, in Kenner.  Suarez was found to be in possession of two counterfeit driverís licenses that were in other names.   

 

 A search warrant executed at 209 Kilgore Drive, resulted in the seizure of multiple credit cards, multiple credit card blanks, a credit card embosser for making counterfeit credit cards, two computers, and a credit card scanner / encoder.  Seized were 119 blank credit cards, 92 credit cards which had been embossed but not yet encoded, and 15 cards that had been encoded but were not yet embossed, and 30 gift cards. 

 

 As a result of the seizure pursuant to the search warrant the following charges were filed as of Friday, April 10th, against Carlos Suarez and the residence occupant Isael Urgelles-Diaz, 30, who provided a home address in Houston Texas.  Each was charged with the following offenses:

 

 Unauthorized use of an access card, anti-skimming act, access device fraud, unlawful possess of fraudulent documents, computer fraud, bank fraud (2-counts) and identity theft (95-counts).  Both remain in custody there bonds were set at $75,000.00.  Additional charges are expected, as the investigation continues.
