Kenner Police investigating drowning death

Kenner - At approximately 9:01 p.m., on Friday, July 31, 2015, the Kenner Police Department responded to the Chardonnay Village Condominiums, located at 1500 West Esplanade Avenue, Kenner, in reference to a 4-year-old who was found unresponsive in a pool.

The Kenner Police Department along with East Jefferson EMS arrived at the location, and attempted to resuscitate the victim, who was transported to Ochsner Kenner.   The victim, a 4-year-old female from Metairie, was swimming with relatives and was last observed by the tanning ledge.  Video surveillance depicted the victim holding onto the edge of the pool and push off into the water.  The victim went under water and resurfaced on two occasions with little commotion.  The victim failed to resurface again and went unnoticed for approximately nine minutes.

Attempts to revive the victim were unsuccessful and her death was pronounced at Ochsner Kenner.  The investigation is ongoing, and an autopsy will be performed at the Jefferson Parish Forensic Center, today, Saturday, August 01, 2015.
