Training exercise held in Kenner

 Kenner - On Saturday, February 28th, 2015 the Kenner Police Department hosted a Full-Scale Armed Intruder Exercise as part of our Training and Exercise Program.  This training exercise took place at John James Audubon Elementary School located at 200 West Loyola Drive, Kenner, Louisiana.

 This exercise was designed to test and validate the plans, policies, and procedures of the below listed response agencies relative to an Armed Intruder event and any emergency requiring a multi-agency coordinated response effort. 

 This was a Full Scale Exercise which simulated a response from multiple responders including, police, fire, and emergency medical personnel.  KPD also used local actors from The Renegades to act as the armed intruders.

 Jefferson Parish Department of Emergency Management

 Jefferson Parish Public School System

 Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office

 Louisiana State Police
St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office
Westwego Police Department

 There were approximately 301 participants, which included 113 volunteers from area colleges, and 45 volunteer participants from the Jefferson Parish Public School System. 

 The following organizations provided gift cards that were raffled off to the volunteers who participated in this exercise.  The volunteers arrived as early as 6:00 A.M. and were a tremendous help in increasing the realism in this event.
