Training exercise to be held in Kenner

Kenner - On Saturday, February 28th, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. the Kenner Police Department is hosting an Armed Intruder Full-Scale Exercise as part of our Training and Exercise Program.  This training exercise will take place at John James Audubon Elementary School located at 200 West Loyola Drive, Kenner, Louisiana.

 This exercise will test and validate the plans, policies, and procedures of the below listed response agencies relative to an Armed Intruder event and any emergency requiring a multi-agency coordinated response effort. 

 This is a Full Scale Exercise that will simulate a response from multiple responders including, police, fire, and emergency medical personnel.  During the event there may be may be loud noises associated with the exercise, including, but not limited to: simulated gunfire and/or explosions; sirens, fire alarms, and screaming.  There will be a closure of West Loyola Drive between Loyola Drive and West Notre Dame Drive for the duration of the exercise.  Exceptions will be made for residents who will be allowed to leave and return to their homes. 

 Please note that this will not be a media event.  The Public Information Officer (PIO) position is one of the functions being tested in this exercise; therefore, PIO’s will be unavailable to media.  It should be noted that due to the sensitivity of the tactics and identity of some responders, filming will be restricted to approved areas on the exterior of the venue only.
