Two teens arrested during stolen vehicle chase

Kenner - On Sunday, January 11, 2015, at 07:20 a.m., Kenner Police Officers attempted to stop a 2010 Acura TSX which had been stolen during a reported residential burglary on January 10th.  The residential burglary occurred in the 1300 block of Massachusetts Avenue, in Metairie.

Officers located the stolen vehicle traveling west in the 600 block of West Esplanade Avenue, in Kenner.  Upon attempting to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver of the stolen vehicle led officers on a short vehicle chase into the University City subdivision.  The vehicle was stopped after it crashed into some shrubs in a yard located in the 500 block of John Hopkins, in Kenner.  Both the driver and a passenger fled the vehicle, at which time a foot chase ensued.

As a result of the foot chase, the driver, identified as John Robertson, 17, of 2725 Greenwood Street, and a 15-year-old, juvenile were arrested.  Robertson was charged with the crimes of illegal possession of stolen things, flight from an officer with a motor vehicle, no driverís license, and hit and run driving.  The 15-year old juvenile was charged with possession of stolen things, battery upon an officer, and resisting arrest.  Both Robertson and the juvenile remain in custody; no bond has been set.    The juvenile was transferred to the Jefferson Parish Juvenile Assessment Center then to Rivarde.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser urges anyone with information concerning this incident to call Kenner Police Officer Christy Norris at (504) 712-2222, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.  Kenner Police Department website:  http://www.kennerpd.com
