Kenner Police Department seeking public’s assistance in identifying purse snatching suspect(s)

KENNER - The Kenner Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying three individuals, one perpetrator, and two persons of interest in a May 1, 2015, purse snatching.

On May 1, 2015, the 78 year old victim, reported that she had arrived (11:15 a.m.) at the Walmart located at 8912 Veterans Boulevard, in Kenner.  The victim exited her vehicle and entered the store to cash a check.  After cashing her check, the victim was returning to her vehicle, when a black male, with a red shirt approached the victim from the rear while riding a bicycle in the parking lot.  The suspect wearing the red shirt pulled the victim’s purse from her, causing the victim to fall.  The suspect then fled westbound through the parking lot towards Roosevelt Boulevard with the victim’s purse.

Video surveillance has been obtained which revealed the suspect who was wearing the red shirt; had entered the Walmart with two other males.  The second male wore blue jeans, a “Saints” tee shirt, jeans, and a baseball style cap.  The third male had a full beard, and was wearing a dark shirt, and light colored jeans.

Reviewing video the three males arrived at the location riding bicycles.  The three males enter the Walmart and loiter around the Money Center, where the victim was seen cashing her check.  After the victim cashes her check and exits the store, the three males follow the victim outside, returned to their bicycles, and begin riding through the parking lot, until the male suspect with the red shirt approaches the victim and snatches her purse, and flees through the parking lot, accompanied by the other two males.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser encourages anyone who knows the identity of the three males whose photographs are attached to this press release, to contact Kenner Police Sergeant Jeff Adams at (504) 712-2310 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
