Kenner man arrested for attempted second degree murder

Kenner - On Tuesday, June 16, 2015, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Task Force arrested Durrell Brian Joseph, 19, who provided a home address of 1513 Garden Street, in Kenner.  Joseph was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant obtained by the Kenner Police Department that charged him with the crime of attempted second degree murder.

On Saturday, June 13, 2015, the Kenner Police Department responded to a domestic complaint in which Joseph forced entry into an apartment and brutally attacked his 20-year-old girlfriend.  As a result of the beating; the victim was covered in blood and sustained visible injuries which consisted four large contusions to her forehead, a deep laceration between her eyes, as well as the lower portion of her left eye.  Joseph also stomped the victim while beating her causing her to lose consciousness.   The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for the injuries sustained during the attack.  The victim has dated Joseph for approximately 6 months and was pregnant.  The victim was beaten due to her desire to end their relationship.

In addition, to the second degree murder charge, Joseph was additionally charged with the crime of aggravated battery, concerning a December 2014 incident in which he stabbed the same girlfriend in the back with a knife which also required medical attention.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser urges anyone who can provide information concerning Durrell Joseph to call Kenner Police Detective Vincent Miranti (504) 712-2330, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
