Kenner man arrested after receiving crime tip via TEXT TO 9-1-1

Kenner - On Monday, March 23, 2015, at approximately 01:20 a.m., the Kenner Police Department began receiving  text messages to the Kenner Police 9-1-1 system reporting someone had jumped a fence at the Wholesale Auto Group, located at 1401 Veterans Boulevard, in Kenner.

Officers responding to the location located Timothy Wheeler, 23, who provided the home address of 2618 Bessemer Street, apartment B, in Kenner.  Wheeler attempted to flee the location but was apprehended.  It was discovered that Wheeler had attempted to force entry into the business.  In addition, Wheeler also entered a vehicle on the lot, and left a tote bag, containing disposable gloves, trash bags, a flashlight, and tape.  Wheeler was arrested and charged with the crimes of attempted simple burglary (business), simple burglary (vehicle), and illegal carrying of weapons (burglar tools).

In addition to the above incident, Wheeler was also linked to a similar business burglary that occurred earlier at the Premier KIA auto dealership, located at 2712 Veterans Boulevard, in Kenner, for which he was additionally charged with simple burglary (business).  In this burglary, Wheeler entered a business trailer through the window, kicked a door open, and stole money.

At the time of this press release, Wheeler remains in custody, no bond has been set.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser urges anyone with information concerning Timothy Wheeler, to call the Kenner Police Department at (504) 712-2252 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
