Three arrested in Monday’s stabbing death in Kenner

Kenner - Three people have been arrested concerning the Monday stabbing death of Kenneth Tassin III, 20 of Kenner, which occurred in the 2800 block of Richland Street in Kenner.  Those arrested are identified as:

Ravon Miller, 29, of 1621 Garden Street, Kenner.  Miller was charged with the crime of second degree murder.

Johneka Woods, 22, of 8008 Karen Street, Metairie.  Woods is the girlfriend of Ravon Miller.  Woods was charged the crime of principal to second degree murder.

Jonnisha Allen, 22, of 1652 Newport Place, Kenner.  Allen is an ex-girlfriend to the victim; Kenneth Tassin III.  Allen has been charged with crimes of principal to second degree murder, theft valued at $600.00, simple criminal damage to property, and disturbing the peace.

On Monday, March 23, 2015, at 9:16 p.m., the Kenner Police Department responded to a fight in the 2800 block of Richland Street, in Kenner.  Upon officers’ arrival, they found Kenneth Tassin III, stabbed multiple times in a rear parking lot of an apartment complex.   Tassin was transported to LSU Interim (University) Hospital, where his death was later pronounced.

As a result of the investigation Kenner Police learned that Allen accompanied by Woods and Miller went to the victim’s residence located on Richland Street, in Kenner.  Once there, Allen armed with a knife proceeded to slash the tires and damage the paint on Tassin’s new girlfriend’s vehicle.   Tassin observed what had occurred and was involved in a verbal argument with Allen which escalated when Tassin became involved in a physical altercation with Miller, and Allen became involved in a physical altercation with Tassin’s new girlfriend.  During the altercations, Miller removed a knife that he possessed and stabbed Tassin five (5) times.  Allen also took Tassins’ girlfriend’s phone that she refused to return.  Miller, Allen, and Woods proceeded to flee the location in a white 2004 Chevrolet Suburban which was stopped by Kenner Police in the 2800 block of Loyola Drive, in Kenner.   While fleeing, Miller gave the knife he possessed to Woods who was instructed to hide the knife from police.   A subsequent search relative to a search warrant resulted in the recovery of the knife used in this incident.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser urges anyone with information concerning this incident, to call the Kenner Police Detective Peter Foltz at (504) 712-2253 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
