KENNER - The Kenner Police Department is investigating a fatality crash that occurred in the 1100 block of Joe Yenni Boulevard, in Kenner.

At approximately 12:43 p.m., the Kenner Police Department began receiving telephone calls reporting a vehicle had crashed and entered the canal on Joe Yenni Boulevard.  Once first responders arrived on scene, they located a 2007 Nissan 350 in the canal.   First responders entered the canal and removed the driver / sole occupant from the vehicle.

The driver, Raja Sikandar Mahmood, 24, of Kenner, was transported to Ochsner Kenner where his death was pronounced.  Speed with current roadway conditions due to rain, are considered factors in this crash.  This crash remains under investigation pending autopsy and toxicology results.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser encourages anyone who witnessed this crash, to contact Kenner Police Traffic Investigator Sergeant Jon Cryer at (504) 712-2336.
