Kenner Police investigating double murder

Kenner - On Monday, April 04, 2016, at 6:52 a.m., the Kenner Police Department responded to a call reporting a male and female unresponsive at 2144 Idaho Avenue, apartment D, in Kenner.  Upon officers’ arrival they found Raynell Kimbrough, 31, and Dawn Scott, 28, shot in the upstairs bedroom.  Scott was in the bed with her infant daughter, who was unharmed.  Kimbrough was found on the floor next to the bed.  Both Kimbrough and Scott’s deaths were pronounced on scene.

As originally reported, there were three children inside the apartment when both Kimbrough and Scott (10 yr. old boy, 2 yr. old boy, and an infant female) were shot.  The 10 yr. old heard gunshots and exited his bedroom to find both Kimbrough and Scott in an adjacent bedroom.  The 10 yr. old exited his apartment and went to a neighbor’s apartment who called police.

Witnesses reported seeing a gold or champagne colored vehicle that looked like a Ford Taurus leaving the area directly following the shooting.

This is the second homicide incident reported in Kenner this year (2016), totaling three (3) victims.  The first homicide occurred on January 22, 2016, in the 4300 block of Idaho Avenue.  Multiple arrests were made concerning the January investigation.

At the present time, no motive has been established.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser urges anyone with information concerning these murders, to call the Kenner Police Detective Harold Pendergast at (504) 712-2226 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
