Metairie man stopped for a traffic violation found to be in possession of 1.5 pounds of marijuana

 Kenner - On Thursday, January 14, 2015, Michael Rogers, 43, of 6108 Hodgson Avenue, Metairie, Louisiana, was arrested and  charged with the crime of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana 666.7 grams (1.5 pounds / street value $2,000.00), and the traffic offense of no seat belt. 

 Rogers was the driver of a 2001 Ford Explorer stopped in the 2200 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, in Kenner because he was not wearing a seat belt.  During the traffic stop, Rogers became nervous at which time he was questioned and admitted he had a “little weed” in the vehicle.   Rogers consented to a search which revealed a duffel bag on the rear seat, which contained two gallon Ziploc bags, each containing marijuana.   Rogers admitted that that his sole intent was to sell the marijuana for profit. 

 At the time of this press release, Rogers remains in custody, no bond has been set.
