Metairie man stopped for a traffic violation found to be in possession of 1.6 pounds of marijuana

 Kenner - On Friday, January 22, 2015, Alfredo Manzanares, Jr., 26, of 1017 Lake Avenue, Metairie, was arrested and  charged with the crimes of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana 724.8 grams (1.6 pounds  / street value $2,100.00), possession of drug paraphernalia, and the traffic offenses of illegal window tint, and suspended driverís license.    

 Manzanares was the driver of a 2006 BMW, stopped in the 3200 block of Loyola Drive, in Kenner due illegal window tint (17%, which is well below the legal limit of 40%).  During the traffic stop, it was learned that Manzanares was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license; in addition he had outstanding traffic attachments from Jefferson Parish which was verified for his arrest.  Upon placing Manzanares under arrest he was found to be in possession of marijuana.  Further search of the vehicle, revealed a digital scale, two jars and a sealed bag containing marijuana.      

 At the time of this press release, Manzanares remains in custody, no bond has been set.
