Kenner Police announces third arrest for Raising Cane’s robbery and murder

Kenner - Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser announces that a third suspect has been arrested concerning the armed robbery of Raising Cane’s # 46, located at 3344 Williams Boulevard, in Kenner, and the murder of Taylor Friloux 21, of LaPlace.

The third suspect arrested is identified as Gregory Donald Jr., 18, of Kenner.   Yesterday, after the press conference the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office provided information concerning a suspect vehicle that was captured on a crime camera in St. John Parish, which resembled the suspect vehicle seen fleeing the Raising Cane’s, on Williams Boulevard after the robbery.  That vehicle a 2001 Toyota Highlander, gold in color was found to be registered to an address on Vouray Drive, in Kenner.

Officers conducted surveillance in the area of Vouray Drive and initiated a traffic stop on said vehicle once it arrived in the area.  Found occupying the vehicle was Gregory Donald, Jr., who admitted to driving the vehicle on the morning of June 29th.  Donald agreed to accompany detectives to the Kenner Police Department.

Once at the Kenner Police Department, Donald initially confessed to utilizing and being the getaway driver of the Toyota Highlander during the commission of the armed robbery of Raising Cane’s and the murder of Taylor Friloux.  Upon confronting Donald concerning inconsistencies, he then confessed to being the second person who entered the Raising Canes with Joshua Every to commit the armed robbery.   Donald told detectives that he was initially recruited by a female to take part in “a lick” (slang for robbery) and participated in its planning.  Donald advised that he was armed with a “box cutter” while Every was armed with a knife upon entering the Raising Canes.  After committing the robbery, Donald advised that Every “stabbed that girl.”  Every even returned to the vehicle telling those who occupied the getaway vehicle that he thought “he killed that girl.”

Donald has been charged with the crimes of first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, criminal conspiracy to armed robbery, aggravated burglary, armed robbery (3-counts), and aggravated assault.  At the time of this press release, Donald remains in custody, no bond has been set.    This investigation is an active investigation and Kenner Police are attempting to identify others who are involved.  The Raising Canes has been located on Williams Boulevard and open since April 2007.  The Toyota Highlander has been seized for the investigation.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser urges anyone with information concerning others responsible for this armed robbery / murder; to call Kenner Police Detective Brad Ricke at (504) 712-2214 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
