Kenner Police Department investigating officer involved shooting

Kenner - The Kenner Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred at 343 Webster Street, in Kenner.   The incident began at 11:37 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2017 after the police received a call for assistance to the residence concerning an individual with a history of mental illness.

Upon officers’ arrival, they learned that Armond Brown, 25, of 343 Webster Street, in Kenner, who was inside the residence, prevented his brother from entering the residence while armed with a knife, telling him that he needed to go.   It was learned that Armond Brown was not taking his prescribed medications, had not bathed, had limited sleep, and was talking about having spiritual powers.

After a lengthy standoff, and utilizing multiple methods of LESS THAN LETHAL force, Armond was shot by police shortly after 4:00 p.m., after he exited the residence and advanced on officers while armed with two knives.  Armond Brown was transported to University Hospital where his death was pronounced.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser encourages anyone who witnessed this incident, to contact Kenner Police Sergeant Jeff Adams at (504) 712-2310.
