New Orleans man arrested in Kenner armed robbery

Kenner - On Thursday, June 22, 2017, the Kenner Police Department arrested Joshua Edwards, 32, of New Orleans and charged him with the crimes of armed robbery (3-counts).

On June 18, 2017, the Kenner Police Department responded to an armed robbery complaint in the 3400 block of Delaware Avenue, in Kenner.  It was there, officers learned that three (male) victims were approached by Edwards, who was wearing a hat an apron.  Edwards brandished a handgun and pulled back the slide, chambering a round.  Edwards ordered the three victims at gun point to the ground.  When one of the victims’s resisted, Edwards placed the gun behind that victim’s ear. Edwards robbed the victims of their wallets, cell phones, money, and credit cards.

As the result of the investigation, and working with robbery detectives with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, detectives learned of an earlier armed robbery that occurred in the 6800 block of Veterans Boulevard, in Metairie, which was investigated by JPSO.  Detectives learned that the Metairie victim’s stolen credit card was utilized at the Driftwood Spur, located at 8910 West Esplanade, and the Circle K, located at 3451 Williams Boulevard, in Kenner.   The Circle K was in close proximity to the Delaware Avenue robbery.  In addition, detectives later recovered the apron which displayed the logo of the “Royal House” restaurant in New Orleans.   Following up that lead, it was later determined that Adams was a former employee of the business.

After obtaining an arrest warrant for Adams arrest concerning the Kenner armed robbery, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Task Force, Kenner Police Department, and JPSO located Edwards, who was taken into custody without incident, in New Orleans.

At the time of this press release, Joshua Edwards remains in custody; his bond was set at $620,000, in reference to the Kenner and JPSO robberies.

Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser encourages anyone who has information concerning Joshua Edwards, to contact Detective Nicholas Engler at 712-2410.
