Kenner man arrested for burglary and theft

Kenner - On Thursday, March 9, 2017, the Kenner Police Department arrested Robert Bentel, 29, of 2409 Maryland Avenue, in Metairie.  Bentel was charged with the crimes of simple burglary of inhabited dwelling, simple burglary (shed), possession of stolen property, and misdemeanor theft valued under $750.00.

Robert Bentel was arrested concerning a February 22, 2017, shed burglary that occurred in the 2500 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, in Kenner.  Bentel was observed by witnesses to enter a rear yard of a residence, and removed property (an extension cord) from a closed shed.

On February 23, 2017, Bentel burglarized a home in the 2400 block of Maine Avenue, in Kenner.  Bentel had forced entry into the residence after he entered the rear yard and kicked a door in.  Bentel then removed property consisting of several computer tablets, jewelry, fishing rods, and money taken from a bank located within.

Property taken from the residential burglary in the 2400 block of Maine Avenue, was recovered at a local GameStop in Kenner.  The property had been sold to GameStop by Robert Bentel.

Kenner Police Detective Devin Diedling interviewed Robert Bentel concerning these incidents.  Bentel admitted to the burglaries and selling some of the stolen property to GameStop.  Bentel contributed his actions to an addiction he has with heroin.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser encourages anyone who may have information concerning Robert Bentel to call the Kenner Police Detective Devin Diedling at (504) 712-2304
