Two juveniles arrested for armed robbery

 Kenner - Two juveniles were arrested Tuesday morning (May 2, 2017), concerning an armed robbery that occurred at the Super D Mart (Chevron), located at 901 West Esplanade Avenue, in Kenner.   At approximately 12:01 a.m., the Kenner Police Department responded to the location after the cashier called 9-1-1 and reported that she was robbed at gunpoint by two male teens clad in dark hooded shirts, bandannas, and gloves.  One of the teens was armed with a handgun.

 After taking money, both suspects fled the location and ran towards the Falling Waters apartment complex (located at 3400 Chateau Boulevard, Kenner), where they jumped the fence.  The area was flooded with numerous police officers who eventually observed the two suspects onto Vanderbilt Lane.  Both suspects attempted to flee, by running and jumping neighboring fences on Vanderbilt Lane, Mayfair Lane, Appian Drive, and Castle Drive.  Both suspects were eventually captured and arrested.  Approximately $60.00 in currency and coins that was taken during the armed robbery was recovered, in addition to a .45 caliber Hi Point handgun. 

 Both juveniles were interviewed and confessed their involvement in the armed robbery.   Motive was they just wanted money. 

 One of the juveniles, a 16-year-old male was charged with the crimes of armed robbery and resisting an officer. 

 The second juvenile, a 15-year-old male was charged with the crimes of armed robbery, resisting an officer, and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.  Both juveniles were transported to the Rivarde Detention Center, pending a continued custody hearing.
