The Special Weapons And Tactics (S.W.A.T.) Team is a part-time team comprised of specially trained members from various sections of the department tasked with responding to critical incidents and other special assignments. Examples of critical incidents and special assignments the S.W.A.T. Team may respond to include high risk warrants, barricaded subjects, special event security, executive protection and hostage situations. The team’s mission is to safely resolve such incidents without injury to citizens, members and suspects by use of special tools and tactics.
